How Long Until I See Results With Pilates?

You’ve heard Pilates is practically miraculous (it is!).

It’ll help your back, improve your posture, change your shape, make you stronger, and it’s fun…and that’s ALL true. But a big question I always get is, “How long before I see these changes?”, and it’s a valid one.

If you’re going to put in time and effort, you want to know how MUCH time and effort you need to put in before your Pilates practice starts paying off!

The great news is, you’ll start FEELING the changes right away (or soon after). The people I teach tend to leave their first class feeling taller, more connected, with their muscles feeling like they’ve been working harder than they have in ages!

When will you start SEEING change?

It usually takes anywhere between a couple of weeks to a couple of months to see the changes your Pilates practice will bring. How long it takes for you is entirely dependent on several factors:

How often are you doing Pilates?

Once a week will take longer to see change than if you’re doing it 3x a week! Consistency is important, and time invested is a key factor to quick changes. You can read more about how long a practice is enough, here.

Are you doing Pilates alone (on your own)?

Doing Pilates on your own will absolutely show you changes, but having a teacher to guide you and get the most from your practice impacts how quickly you’ll see them. A qualified Pilates instructor will work with you on what you want and what your body needs! They’ll choose the exercises most suitable for your body and will help you get more from your practice (it’s definitely worth it!).

How much effort are you really making in your Pilates practice?

I get it, I really do. So many of my clients (in a private session AND in group class) say the same thing:

“I never work as hard on my own as I do with you!”

That’s because I hold you accountable, push you harder, and expect more from you than you do from yourself. You’re also guaranteed to show up for your session! I know it’s easy to blow off a workout you’ve decided to do on your own, but a workout time with me reserved just for you? You’re going to guard that appointment from anything that might distract you otherwise!

What are you eating?

If you’re hoping to change your shape or lose weight with Pilates (read more here), a lot depends on what, and how much, you’re eating every day. You can’t out-exercise a bad diet, even with Pilates. Your best bet? Pairing a consistent Pilates practice with advice from a registered dietician!

One thing is true for everyone…the faster you get started, the sooner you’ll see results.

Are you ready?

I’d love to help you discover how amazing Pilates is, and how fantastic you’ll feel doing it!

Xo, Kimberly
